Down the rabbit hole

Down the rabbit hole

Question time!

Who is the girl in the picture?

What has happened to her?

What animal can you see in the tunnel?

Apart from books, what else might be lurking in the tunnel?

What will happen when she reaches the bottom of the tunnel?

What has she left behind at the top?

Can you see any words that I have repeated in my writing? What effect does that have?

Perfect picture!

What will happen when the girl reaches the bottom of the tunnel?

Can you draw what will happen next?

Story starter!

Down, down, down she went, deeper into the rabbit hole. It seemed like she had been falling for an eternity, as if time had slowed almost to a stand-still. She moved through the air as if through water, the fragments of dust and light filling her vision. She opened her mouth to scream, but the voice that spoke was not her own. What was this place? Would she ever land?

The stiflingly hot air of the dusty library filled her mouth, and she could almost taste the scent of the ancient books that surrounded her descent.

Down, down, down she went, deeper and deeper into the dream. It had to be a dream, she thought to herself. She took a deep breath, a gasp like one would take before plunging into water, her body tensing for the imminent thump that would usually meet a fall such as this… but it never came...

Sentence challenge!

Can you find where I have used questions in my writing?

Can you write a descriptive paragraph to describe the girl’s descent through the tunnel? Can you include a series of questions in your writing?

Sick sentences!

These sentences are ‘sick’ and need help to get better. Can you help?

The girl fell down the tunnel. It was really dark and long. She had been falling for ages.
